Excerpt: Connection Timeout Bret Sergeant Hart (born July 2, 1957) is a Canadian writer, actor and retired professional and amateur wrestler, best known for his work in the World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment (WWF/WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as Bret "(The) Hit Man" Hart. He is a member of the Hart wrestling family. Like others in his family, Hart has an amateur wrestling background, including wrestling at Ernest Manning High School and Mount Royal College. Along with his "Hit Man" nickname, Hart's agile, technical style earned him the moniker, "The Excellence of Execution", and he was also known as "The Pink and Black Attack", in reference to his ring attire, as well as his signature mirrored sunglasses, which he would routinely give away to a young audience member before matches. Hart debuted in professional wrestling in 1978 with his father, Stu Hart's promotion, Stampede Wrestling. Following the WWF's acquisition of Stampede Wrestling in 1984, he came to prominence both as one half of the successful Hart Foundation tag team, along with brother-in-law Jim Neidhart, and as a singles wrestler. Hart won his first WWF Championship in 1992, the year after the team's disbandment. He reached his peak of global popularity in the mid 1990s, being a consistent fan favorite and routinely headlining pay-per-view events, live tours, and television programming. In 1997, Hart turned into one of the WWF's most despised villains, and reformed the Hart Foundation as an anti-American stable, comprising he and Neidhart, younger brother Owen Hart, brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith, and Brian Pillman. That same year, Hart was involved in the controversial "Montreal Screwjob", which marked his departure for WCW, where he enjoyed continued championship success until his departure from that promotion in 2000, due to injury. He retired from professional wrestling later that year, and made post-retirement appearances with World Wrestling All-Stars (WWA) in 2001 and
